As an international town for fairs Hannover hosts visitors from all over the world. In the immediate vicinity of the HCC everybody will find a large variety of cultural and leisure activities. We have compiled a selection of sights and cultural venues:
This baroque garden was laid out in 1666, based on the French model in Versailles. Today you can walk through the world-famous grounds just as the Electress of Hannover did. And don’t forget to visit the new "Niki de Saint Phalle" grotto.
Being the birthplace of Kurt Schwitters, Hannover has a particular relationship with this Dadaist artist. A replica of his "Merzbau", a bizarre and fantastically ornamented spatial sculpture, can be seen in the Sprengel Museum. The museum treasures of 20th century artists such as Picasso, Nolde, Léger, Beckmann, Klee and Niki de Saint Phalle have set European standards. Modern art also has forums at the Kestner Gesellschaft and the Kunstverein (Art Association).
